Winter Championships

(June 18, 2015)

Hartpury College was the location for the British riding clubs novice winter dressage and Show jumping Championships.  The teams had to contend with very trying weather, which caused all the flags around the dressage arenas to flap and wave about spectacularly which did not bode well for good dressage tests.  The show jumping was indoors and so the competitors had nicer conditions to warm up and compete in and our junior team from Tendering Hundred RC consisting of Danielle Bennett, Francesca Power, Josie Brosnan and Tia Foster, performed brilliantly to finish 7th overall. Amy Adamthwaite from Essendon and Epping Forest Dressage Group was individually 5th in the Novice dressage and 6th overall in the individual dressage.

The inaugural intermediate Championships were held at Bury Farm.  Saturday was a full day of dressage and showjumping for the seniors. The dressage competition was for teams and individuals, the tests were prelim to elementary level.  Sandie Gibbs riding Nolton Tobago produced a fabulous test in the elementary individual competition getting a score of 80.97% not only winning the class but the overall individual competition too.

Saffron Walden’s senior show jumping team consisting of Emily Duff, Laura Birch, Lisa Spence and Suzannah Engleman, also had a good day coming 3rd overall in a very competitive field.

Ingatestone and Blackmore’s juniors won the intermediate show jumping on the Sunday, their team of Charlie and Molly Lenton, Lucinda May and Evie Morris jumped a very impressive four double clears, the next nearest team were on 12 faults.  Ingatestone also fielded a junior dressage team, Lucinda May, Abigail Morrell, Sydney Gallagher and Annabel Stacey who came 9th. Royal Wood junior dressage team of Hannah Godfrey, Samatha Conniford, Summer Dan and Nicola McCure came 8th and individuals Emily and Abigail Uden were 7th with Abi stone 5th in their respective arenas.
